Journal title | Journal of Dementia Care, vol 6, no 4, July/August 1998 |
Pages | pp 16-18 |
Keywords | Dementia ; Day services ; Management [care] ; Scottish Borders. |
Annotation | In the first instalment of a two-part article, the authors describe how they achieved an even better service within existing resources, when they focused attention on the subjective experience of people with dementia. Their work in the Borders Community Health Service NHS Trust has used dementia care mapping (DCM), a technique for creating a highly condensed record of the process of care (or uncare) through close observation and recording. Its use in the programme of care and structured planning at the Gala Day Unit in Galashiels which specialises in day care for people with dementia in the community, is described. (RH). |
