This special issue contains the papers in summary format, as well as the ensuing discussions, presented at the conference. This fourth section examines whether symptoms respond to pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment, and covers the following: antipsychotic treatment in outpatients with dementia; community-based research on behavioural symptoms in dementia; nursing home research on treatment; meta-analysis of controlled pharmacological trials.
