AnnotationA major aim in the care of chronically ill older people is improvement in quality of life. This short report describes a Swedish study which examined the effect of audiovisual intervention on quality of life in residents in a nursing home, using videorecorded story-telling programmes prepared by an ethnologist, for mental stimulation. Quality of life was measured using the Nottingham Health Profile. Results showed that the quality of life increased in the intervention group compared with the control group. (AKM).
