Annotation | The screening and management of dementia and depression in minority ethnic older people has received little attention in the psychiatric literature. This brief paper looks at cross-cultural issues in the screening for mental disorders and cognitive impairment. It considers the advantages and disadvantages of new screening instruments specifically developed for a particular community, and existing instruments. Since there are so many minority ethnic groups in the UK, it may be sufficient to modify existing instruments. (AKM). |
