Annotation | The ethnic minority older population in the United Kingdom (UK) is increasing, which probably means a corresponding increase in the quantity of psychiatric morbidity. It is essential that psychogeriatric services plan for this increase in order to provide an appropriate and accessible service for minority ethnic older people. This commentary briefly looks at the data needed to plan for such services, focusing on demography, social characteristics, epidemiology, presentation and natural history, pathways to care, and availability and utilisation of services.
