AnnotationFollowing the publication of the Government's "Action on Age - report of the consultation on age discrimination in employment" (Department for Education and Employment - DfEE, 1998), this document contains a draft code of practice, for consultation, which aims to change attitudes and practices which are a factor in age discrimination in employment. The document was developed by a working group consisting of the CBI, TUC, Age Concern, Employers Forum on Age, Institute of Personnel Development, Federation of Recruitment and Employment Services, and the Institute of Management. The code covers good practice in six aspects of the employment cycle: recruitment, selection, promotion, training and development, redundancy, and retirement. Comments are invited by 8 January 1999.
