AnnotationThis study examined psychosocial functioning and health from age 70 to age 80 for 194 men and 204 women in the Terman Study of the Gifted, which is the longest study of the human life cycle started in 1921. The participants responded to surveys in 1982, 1986, and 1992. Changes in goals, activities, psychological well-being, and perceived health were examined. Results showed change from 1982 to 1992 on all variables. Proactive goals and activities, psychological well-being, and health were positively related at age 80, and changes in these variables over 10 years also co-varied. The results are discussed in terms of the challenges of later ageing. (AKM).
