Annotation | This article takes a brief look at the prevalence, causes, and risk factors for homicide committed by persons with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other dementing disorders. The sociodemographic characteristics available for 11 homicides committed in the period 1988-1998 by older people with AD or other dementias are summarised, and some of the legal questions raised by such homicides are discussed.
