Annotation | Reminiscence sessions and associated activities are an appropriate and effective way of bringing pleasure, stimulation, meaning and purpose into the lives of older people in care. Following a discussion of the `fourth age', this manual describes the kinds of activities that can be carried out, and the benefits of reminiscence work. The author suggests what resources will be useful. The largest section, `Getting down to work', provides information about organising activities, from setting up a reminiscence exhibition to performing a play or music. A later section, themes, provides more ideas. The book also contains useful advice on how to adapt activities for ill and frail people. (RH). |
