AnnotationEthnogerocounselling is the counselling of older people from minority ethnic groups. Using examples from the four major ethnic groups in the United States (US) - American Indian/Alaskan Natives, Hispanic-Latino Americans, African Americans, and Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders - the author aims to highlight some principles of understanding and providing mental health services to older people from minority ethnic groups. Each section examines the psychological, spiritual, and social implications of each group's culture, and how those factors affect late life issues. Descriptive cases, ethnogerocounselling strategies, and discussion questions are included in each section. (AKM).
