AnnotationThe main points of the White Paper, `Modernising social services' are outlined in this booklet: regional Commissions for Care Standards to inspect all types of care homes; support for adults to enable them to live independent lives in their own homes; Quality Protects, a programme dealing specifically with children's social services; a General Social Care Council concerned with raising staffing and training standards; a system of checks on quality of local authority social services; and provision of additional funding in the next three years through a Social Services Modernisation Fund. This leaflet is also available in Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu, Chinese, Greek, Turkish Somali and Vietnamese.
