AnnotationThis is one of two items in which the results from the first stages of the Social Services Inspectorate's (SSI) Care management study are presented. This report describes the findings of study visits to seven local authorities. The aim of the visits was to explore the arrangements for delivering care management within each location, to identify advantages and disadvantages, and to look at how the issues which emerged were handled. Section 1 of the report examines particular features of the way local authorities carried out their work, with reference to: screening; initial assessment and care planning; monitoring and review; budgets; and links to commissioning. Section 2 is a broader discussion of the features outlined in Section 1. Section 3 draws conclusions which connect features and issues to the forward policy agenda. (RH).
