Annotation | Developed over the last six years, the 16 building standards for "Lifetime Homes" are intended to ensure that new buildings can be easily adapted to meet people's changing physical needs. Studies commissioned by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF), which developed the concept, suggest that if all homes were built to its recommended standards over the next 30 years, estimated long term savings would be around £250 per dwelling. Even greater savings could be made if delaying moves into residential care are considered. (RH). |
