Annotation | Care by family carers is unlikely to keep pace with the growing number of very old people during the next century. The problems could be eased by medical advances and technological developments such as "Lifetime Homes" and "Smart Homes" of the kind being built by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF). In addition, family carers should be given financial and personal support; the costs of care and how these are to be paid for are estimated. (RH). |
