Annotation | The authors describe an innovative approach to consumer participation in Kirby, the most deprived area of Knowsley, Merseyside. In the research for this project, they wanted to find out the views of older people who receive support to live at home. In addition they wanted to ensure that people gave their own perspective, rather than fitting their comments to how others might look at a particular situation. The authors also wanted to make sure that people's views were taken seriously and acted upon. A more detailed report on the project is given in `Terms of engagement: engaging older people in the development of community services' by Roger Blunden, and published by the King's Fund. (RH). |
