Annotation | Closure of a hospital in Stone, Staffordshire, in an area with a high percentage of older people created a need for good quality, cost-effective rehabilitation services. This paper describes the setting up of a rehabilitation team and centre (Stone Rehabilitation Service - SRS), and the benefits that it has provided: a team dedicated to interdisciplinary working, and which meets local needs. Evaluation and monitoring of the service is undertaken regularly with main referrers, and is commented on briefly. Government health service policy is seen as supportive of such initiatives. (RH). |
