Annotation | Although health maintenance behaviour has been viewed as the domain of health care professionals and the medical care system, self-care and self-help organisations can also play a role. This article suggests self-help programmes based on: altering lifestyles; self-help education; family support; peer counselling; Senior-actualisation and Growth-exploration (SAGE); and leisure time physical activity. Education and discussion can change older people's attitudes for taking self-help initiatives. (RH). |
