Annotation | Although the leisure role is seen to be the main role in retirement, relatively few people adopt new patterns or pursuits after retirement, or increase the number or frequency of activities. The authors outline findings of some studies of over 65s' leisure time activities, which leads to the conclusion that there is a growing need for pre-retirement counselling, to prepare older people for happy and creative lives.
