Annotation | Pet owners are generally fitter, less depressed, and more able to cope with illness and trauma. The author outlines the reasons which led her to found the Cinnamon Trust, the only specialist national charity which aims to help keep older people and their pets together. She describes: the work done by a network of volunteers; the Pet Friendly Care Home register; the sanctuary for bereaved pets; and examples of placements of younger bereaved pets with older people.
