AnnotationThis is one of a series of reports commissioned by the Housing for Older People in Europe (HOPE) Network. The reports are funded by the Housing Corporation as part of their review into housing for older people. The housing and care services provided by European not-for-profit organisations are vital aspects of the current service arrangements for older people. This report draws on recent research studies and examples of practice from a range of not-for-profit organisations in France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Eire, and the UK. Examples from the UK include TransAge Care and Better Government for Older People (BGOP): the North Down Inter-Agency Partnership. The examples illustrate the way organisations are responding to older people and how they are helping to promote positive perspectives about older age. The report identifies key principles for good practice and suggest practical ways to improve older people's opportunities to live independently. (AKM).
