AnnotationThe concerns of middle-aged and older people infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS have received little attention by researchers and policy-makers. The aim of this special issue is to identify a prevention research and care agenda to meet the needs of older people with HIV/AIDS in the United States (US). Topics covered include: trends in national surveillance rates, transmission routes, and risk factors; the survival experience of older and younger adults with AIDS; perceived advantages and disadvantages of age among older HIV-infected adults; ageing and informal caregiving to people with HIV/AIDS; health care needs and services; older women at risk for HIV infection and AIDS; injecting drug use in later life; measuring AIDS-related behaviours in older populations; quality of life in older adults with HIV; ageing minority populations and HIV/AIDS; and educational strategies and interventions targeting adults aged 50 years and older for HIV/AIDS prevention. (AKM).
