Annotation | Goal attainment scaling (GAS) was originally developed in the US as a way of monitoring the effectiveness mental health programmes and their funding. Although GAS is suitable for use in long-term care settings and with learning disabled people, the mathematics involved is perceived as an obstacle to its implementation. This article outlines a simplified version of GAS for a staff training package, gives examples of scaling goals, and assesses its strengths and limitations. (RH). |
