Annotation | The term Snoezelen was introduced from the Netherlands in the 1960s, and refers to a multi-sensory room whose purpose is to aid communication and provide a quality environment for leisure activity. It was developed and is widely used with people who have learning disabilities, and is increasingly used as a therapy for people with dementia. The author reviews use of a Snoezelen room at a day centre for adults with learning disabilities, and the sense of well-being imparted to a male patient from a hospital continuing care ward. (RH). |
