AnnotationBed positioning programs (BPPs) are set up by interdisciplinary team members for severely disabled, institutionalised older people who present with or are at risk for contractures and are at risk from pain and skin breakdown. The study's purpose was to survey physiotherapists and occupational therapists on clinical issues surrounding BPPs, in order to enable the design of a study evaluating a BPP's effectiveness. 21 therapists were surveyed. Results indicated the prevalence of substantial resources used for BPPs. Therapists identified strategies for implementing BPPs and the expected outcomes of a BPP. This preliminary study assisted the investigators in developing a definitive description of a BPP, and enabled the design of a study evaluating the effectiveness of BPPs. (RH).
