Annotation | Multi-dimensional measures of caregiver burden give a more complete picture of caregivers' responses to the demands of care, and may be used to formulate effective healthcare interventions. This paper reports findings of a study which measures the Caregiver Burden Inventory (CBI) developed by Novak and Guest (The Gerontologist, 1989) as a diagnostic tool for use by healthcare professionals working with caregivers. It concludes that the CBI is a psychometrically sound instrument, and discusses implications for use of the CBI by healthcare professionals. (RH). |
