AnnotationThe Government has accepted a recommendation from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) to extend the risk groups recommended to be offered annual influenza immunisation to include all those aged 75 years and over. This circular summarises the revised policy. Attached is a letter dated 10 August 1998 from the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Nursing Officer for action by all doctors, NHS Trust Directors of Nursing, and Health Authority nurse advisers. The letter includes background to the change in policy, and a summary of the revised policy. (RH).
