Annotation`Dementia in focus' is based on a conference co-hosted by the Centre for Policy on Ageing (CPA) and Research into Ageing held on 21 October 1997, and marking their respective 50th and 21st birthdays. Presentations have been revised by the authors for publication, and cover: recent medical research; the potential for rehabilitation; the importance of differentiation and diagnosis; the rights of sufferers; technology and design aids for effective and individual management; seeing the individual, not the dementia; and public policy on dementia.
