AnnotationThe Age Awareness project was set up in 1995 by Methodist Homes for the Aged and the Christian Council on Ageing, facilitated by a grant from the Sir Halley Stewart Trust. The main objective of the project is to increase the understanding of the spiritual needs of older people. This fourth booklet of ten traces the waves of migration into Britain and underlies the importance of religion in keeping a sense of identity. The expectations of a number of world religions and their attitudes to older people are outlined, including Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Buddhism. The presence and growth of "Black Churches" is addressed, and the author argues that the Christian Church needs to take seriously other religions. (AKM).
