Annotation | Research interest in industrial gerontology began with work initiated by Nuffield Foundation projects after 1945, and continued under the sponsorship of other agencies. This paper outlines the way in which this research has developed, its achievements, and significance for industry. Literature is reviewed on: laboratory studies of changing capacity with age; studies of ability to continue at work; industrial work in relation to age; and methods of keeping older people at work.
