Journal title | The Journal of Long Term Home Health Care : the PRIDE Institute Journal, vol 17, no 1, Winter 1998 |
Pages | pp 29-41 |
Keywords | Health services ; Demography ; Korea. |
Annotation | Unlike many developed countries, Korea has a relatively small older population. When compared with their counterparts in other advanced countries, older Koreans neither receive adequate medical care, nor have a welfare system to support them. This article outlines characteristics of geriatrics, diseases, mental health problems, and approaches to treatment for older people in Korea. Changes in the social structure have also led to deterioration in family caregiving mechanisms. (RH). |
