AnnotationThis paper presents the rationale behind the development of a food enjoyment scale for use with older adults, describes the scale, and summarises the scale's performance in a Wisconsin survey. Domains of food enjoyment included in the scale are: sensory changes; restrictive effects of dietary recommendations; oral problems; financial limitations; mealtime social interactions; and functional limitations. Potential uses of the scale include quantifying food enjoyment in populations for comparison and associative purposes, and detecting special needs of groups of older adults. (RH).
