Annotation | Since its beginning, environmental gerontology has focused on creating and improving the residential environments of older population, however, during the last 15 years there has been a decrease in formal theoretical advances in the area. The aim of this book is to examine some environment-ageing perspectives in order to stimulate further research and intervention on housing older people. Topics covered include: environment and ageing theory; older people's adjustment to residential changes; gender, housing and older people; the phenomenology of housing for older people; the social ecological approach of Rudolf Moos; the evolving concept of behaviour settings; and the theory of Kurt Lewin.
