| Annotation | This supplement to Geriatric Medicine was published to mark World Alzheimer's Day on 21 September. The first of three articles, on diagnosis, makes the point that early intervention is essential in Alzheimer's disease (AD), and of benefit to patients, doctors and carers. The pivotal role of the general practitioner (GP) in supporting those who care for people with AD at home is discussed in the second article. Finally, evidence for the efficacy of currently available drugs for AD is reviewed; some future treatments are considered. (RH). |
