Annotation | The author describes how Liverpool Social Services Department (SSD) carries out its responsibilities in respect of service users deemed by the Court of Protection as incapable of managing their own affairs. In the absence of any official guidelines, procedures have been developed to ensure financial accountability and to creatively promote the interests of the individuals concerned. The mental health legislation requires redrafting: powers of the 1959 Act were not properly transferred to the Mental Health Act 1983. (RH). |
