Annotation | The introduction of care in the community has created new opportunities for individuals to live more independently and, potentially, to have a greater choice over the services they receive. The voluntary sector can play a unique role in promoting the needs of older people with mental health problems, by drawing on its practical experience, the voices of users and carers, and its ability to be a public advocate. The diversity of the sector is important when seeking support for older people who experience mental health problems, and goes some way to allowing older people choice and independence. (RH). |
