AnnotationStrathclyde Elderly Forum believes that all care services - short term, long term, residential or domiciliary - should be free to all older people at the point of delivery. This submission to the Royal Commission on the Funding of Long Term Care for Elderly People makes other comments regarding care for older people: valuing and respecting older people; prevention rather than cure, paying attention to factors affecting lifestyle; the types of services provided; inadequacies in current provision; and charging for care. The Forum also calls on the Royal Commission to consider other ongoing government reviews - such as tax, pensions, and benefits - which are likely to affect older people's ability to pay for care.
