Annotation | The Project, which began in 1994, includes King's Cross and Brunswick Wards in Camden, and Thornhill, and parts of Barnsbury and Clerkenwell Wards in Islington. Its aim has been to enable local people to identify their health care needs, and to develop a strategy for developing services to meet these needs. This summary report outlines the project's scope and methodology. Priority groups identified include minority ethnic communities: African, African Caribbean, Bangladeshis, and Chinese. 13.5% of residents are of pensionable age, and a mixed picture of opportunities emerged. Recommendations made include employment of community health workers, improving leisure and recreation facilities, upgrading GP (general practitioner) services, commissioning services for ethnic minorities, and considering the needs of those with HIV/AIDS.
