AnnotationThis summary presents the key findings from a new National survey of volunteering, carried out by BMRB International on behalf of the Institute for Volunteering Research in 1997. Previous surveys were carried out in 1991 and 1981. The aims of the survey were to provide an up-to-date picture of the extent and nature of volunteering in the UK, and to track trends in volunteering over the past 16 years. (RH).
