Annotation | The Mental Illness Specific Grant (MISG) has been distributed annually since 1991/92 to supplement spending by local authorities on social care for mentally ill people (including those with dementia) living in the community. This circular sets out the arrangements of the 1998/99 MISG, including Target Fund for local authority social service departments, and asks health authorities to read the parallel guidance in Local Authority Circular LAC (98)7 and engage in discussions with local authority social services departments about the nature of the services to be funded from the 1998/99 MISG.
