Annotation | Sea cruising can prove a health hazard for older passengers. For this reason, the very old and chronically ill should seek a pre-travel medical, and should consider potential risks to their health, adequate immunisation and travel insurance. Care with choosing the shipping line, ship, and itinerary may avoid trauma and ensure a safe cruise. GPs should take the initiative and advise on potential hazards, their prophylaxis and prevention.
