AnnotationThis is a technical consensus statement on the organisation of care in psychiatry of older people, jointly produced by the Geriatric Psychiatry Section of the World Psychiatric Association and the World Health Organization (WHO), with the collaboration of several other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the participation of experts from countries in several WHO regions. It is the final version of a previous draft. The statement covers the following: general and specific principles of good quality care for older people with mental health problems; care needs of older people with mental health problems; and descriptors of components of services, including community mental health teams for older people, in-patient services, day care, liaison services, primary care, community and social support services, and prevention.
