Annotation | Anorexia Nervosa (AN) occurs in all age groups from adolescence to older age. This article describes six case studies which presented to an old age psychiatry service over a ten-year period. The studies illustrate how the effects of ageing modify the clinical picture but do not alter the fundamental problem of self-inflicted low body weight. The authors suggest that a reduction in ageism and increased reporting of the condition in older age may help in understanding the condition as a whole. (AKM). |
