AnnotationThe strengths, weaknesses and limitations of two different models of user involvement - from above, and from below - are discussed. It is suggested, in the context of mental health problems, that user involvement from below is likely to achieve more in challenging worker/user relationships. The downside is the stress which involvement places on activists, and the negative effects of that stress. (RH).
