Pages | pp 795-807 |
Keywords | Psychiatric treatment ; Comparison ; Ireland ; United Kingdom ; United States of America. |
Annotation | The author compares the practice of geriatric psychiatry in three countries: Ireland, the UK, and the US. The two main areas reviewed are geriatric psychiatric practice and practitioners, and the mental health services available in each country, including organisational characteristics. The US is the most entrepreneurial of the three; Britain's greatest strength is the uniformity and comprehensiveness of its services; and Ireland provides an excellent model for nations of comparable size. Considerable change is occurring in all three countries. (RH). |
