AnnotationThe experiences of black and minority ethnic housing associations are considered in the context of the financial regime introduced by the 1988 Housing Act and, more recently, the expected withdrawal of additional Housing Corporation support. The research identifies the characteristics of black housing associations: where they are, who they are housing, how they are managed, how they might develop in the future, and their relationships with other housing associations. The report concludes with some recommendations for the housing associations themselves, for lenders, for the Housing Corporation, and for the Government: each has obligations as regards relationships which will ensure the success and viability of smaller housing associations. The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) supported this project as part of its programme of research and innovative development projects, but the views expressed are not necessarily those of the Foundation.
