Annotation | Joint reviews provide an independent assessment of how well the public is served by social service departments (SSDs) in England. This is a brief summary of the key findings from the 29 reviews conducted so far. The review findings examine the extent to which services are focused on users; and asks how well-placed councils are to shape better services, whether they manage performance effectively, and whether they manage resources to maximise value for money. Examples of good practice and pitfalls encountered illustrate the points made. (RH). |
