Annotation | Loneliness and isolation are common dangers of old age. To combat these, a street warden scheme was set up to ensure that every old person in Kirkcaldy was known to someone who cared. It was realised that the work involved in organising such a service required a large amount of time, more than one person could be expected to give voluntarily. The organiser of the scheme is paid on a part-time basis; other workers are volunteers. (RH). |
