AnnotationDementia research usually relies on caregivers as informants through interviewer-administered instruments or self-administered instruments. This US study compared data produced with the two types of instrument. The functional status of 34 persons with Alzheimer's disease was determined at baseline and six months later with three instruments using the patients' caregivers as informants, using both self-administered and interviewer-administered instruments. Three instruments were compared: an activities of daily living (ADL) instrument, a sleep problem instrument, and a dysfunctional behaviour instrument.
