Annotation | This research sought to ascertain whether demographic patterns in the UK are similar to those in other European countries. The author assembled a major new dataset bringing together information on demographic events, attitudes and values, and workforce and economic participation for 51 developed countries (mostly European). He found that Britain was similar to Scandinavian countries. However, the rest of Europe is moving towards an older age structure akin to that of the UK. (RH). |
