Annotation | In recent years, the population of black and minority ethnic elders has been increasing, and is likely to continue to rise. This guide aims to provide practical help to those who are seeking to provide culturally sensitive housing and support services to Asian elders whose countries of origin are India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is based mainly on the experience of Kalyan Ashram, an extra care sheltered housing scheme in Sparkbrook, Birmingham owned by Ashram Housing Association. It also draws on good design practice from three schemes in South London: Shanti Court, Wandsworth; Roshni House Tooting; and Asra House, Streatham Vale. (RH). |
